This year is off to a roaring start. It’s been wicked cold in my neck of the woods, as with many places in the United States. Flu shots didn’t work this year, so I’m trying not to get sick. So many people have contracted the flu this season. Not fun. Stay warm and healthy, folks. Elsewhere in life, I continue to add new designs to my greeting card Etsy shop, Designs by Ramona C. The last two weeks, I focused on Valentine’s Day cards. I have a few more designs to complete and add to the shop. Check them out and let me know what you think.

This week I’m sharing things that are my favorites list for the beginning of January. I hope you find a few nuggets of interest in this Friday Faves post.
This edition of Friday Faves includes my favorite fashion items, books, TV shows and more. Check out my list plus the free download.

Friday Faves

Fashion: Since the beginning of November I’ve been obsessed with a Pink Velvet Blazer from White House | Black Market. It’s one of their signature items for the new Plus Size line that launched in October of last year. It finally went on sale this week, and of course, I ordered it. It’s scheduled to arrive next week! You can get yours here (Plus Size) or a similar one here.

Serena: Serena Williams and Baby Olympia posed for the cover of Vogue, the issue was released this week. I love everything about this cover photo. Serena looks amazing, and Olympia broke the record for the youngest person to appear on a Vogue Cover. She was three months old at the time of the photo shoot. Isn’t she lovely?

Oprah’s Acceptance Speech. Can you believe that Oprah Winfrey became the first black woman to win the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes last weekend? Her acceptance speech was nothing less than epic. She inspired a nation of people and sparked news stories of the possibility of her running for President in 2020. Don’t do it, Oprah!

Fashion: Velvet Sneakers. I purchased a pair of velvet sneakers recently, and I’m finally comfortable wearing them. They are maroon and look fabulous, like this pair here.
Yay! It’s a new year. What are you loving so far? Check out a few of my favorite things in this #FridayFave update. Click To Tweet

TV Show: Moonshiners. Don’t judge me. I love this show.  The characters (yes, I said characters; not reality stars) and shenanigans they get into are highly entertaining. However, after watching this show I’m sure I will never purchase moonshine from illegal distillers. The process they go through to make the ‘shine is not appealing.

Books. I will admit that I’m on the hunt for a copy of “Fire and Fury” by Michael Wolff. Again, don’t judge me. In the meantime, I purchased a Ketogenic Diet Cookbook and the novel, The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger.

Vision. By vision, I mean Vision Boards. They are ‘all the rage’ right now. I’m even considering attending a Vision Board Party later this month. My word for 2018 is NEW. I want to try new things, get a new job, go new places, meet new people and have new adventures. A vision board will help me see myself doing these things. Are you creating a vision board?

Wall art. I’m intrigued by a good quote. I’ve seen several wall art pieces that I would love to have in my home. This also inspired me to create my own art. You can download my first piece by clicking the image below (no email address required). It’s my free gift to you.

You know I never wore velvet sneakers but it seems cute for fall/winter. I think Oprah speech grants her 2020 Presidential Status!

Between Serena sharing her intimate truths and Mother Oprah all the notice, I am here for this. I am enjoying all this black greatness.

I’m loving two new shows, The Chi and 9-1-1 both are really good and pure black girl magic.

I’m also loving Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History, I’m reading that to my six years old and we are learning about some new amazing women.

First off, your location must be in the northeast by your use of “wicked” lol. I love your friday faves though…I’m all for the vision boards as well. I actually made my first one at the beginning of this year!

LOL, EG. I spent several years in the northeast, but I am no longer there. I’m spending my days in the Midwest now. I will forever use the word “wicked.” 🙂👍🏽

I’ve never heard of the show Moonshiners but I might have to check it out. Oprah’s speech was inspiring and one that will be quoted from here on out.

Jay, you are correct. Oprah’ speech will be quoted for forever, for ever ever. You should definitely check out Moonshiners. It’s on Discovery Channel.

Oprah’s speech was great and I love anything pink so I’ll be checking out that blazer. I just finished my vision board yesterday and plan to share it soon.

I love your keyword for 2018, and I wouldn’t mind making that my word for 2018 either. The idea of meeting new people, getting a new job, and visiting new places sounds exciting!

I’m still trying to pinpoint where the news of Oprah for President came from, because that rumor train came barreling out of nowhere! I agree with you though. She shouldn’t run, and it’s mostly because we want people with political backgrounds these days. Serena and her daughter are lovely, and I think it’s amazing that she’s continuing the conversation of parenting with so many people.

Natasha, I believe we have Stedman to thank for the presidential-run rumor. Yes, we need leaders with political backgrounds in office.
